Walter Hill Elementary School fifth graders inspired by visit to Motlow
As they were boarding their bus to return to Murfreesboro from the Motlow State Community College Moore County campus, the Walter Hill Elementary School fifth grade class could be heard chanting “Way to go Motlow, way to go!” The cheer was evidence of the success and inspiration the students received from attending a career exploration day at the college.
The class and its teachers had just concluded their visit to Motlow to learn and experience what college can offer. Sixty-six students attended informational sessions, conducted by Motlow faculty and staff, including Dr. Michael Torrence, Motlow president. Session topics included “learning through virtual reality” and “career assessment”. The annual event, supported by members of the Motlow women’s basketball team, provided an opportunity to engage with and inspire potential students by giving them a first-hand collegiate experience and information pertinent to attending college.
