Motlow State hosting Softball Pitching Camp June 18-19

The Motlow State Community College athletic department is hosting a softball pitching camp June 18 - 19 on the Moore County campus. The camp will be conducted by Myndie Berka, owner of Break Threw Fastpitch, and her staff of current college pitchers.

“Myndie Berka is a phenomenal pitching instructor,” said Janice Morey, Motlow head softball coach, “and does a great job with goal-setting for her students. I love the fact that she incorporates teaching about the mental approach to the game into her sessions. Participants will also love the ‘chalk talks’ with the coaches as they hear about their experiences as young players and as college pitchers.”

The camp is open to pitchers in seventh to twelfth grade (as of fall 2018) with solid mechanics and good command of the strike zone with their fastball, as there will be very little focus on basic mechanics during this camp. The session will cover speed development, targets, change-ups, drop ball, rise ball, curve ball, competitions, goal-setting, establishing routines, and dealing with adversity.
