On Friday afternoon, the lobby in Eoff Hall was filled with friends, retired Motlow employees, current Motlow employees, Foundation Trustees, former Motlow Presidents and community members – all gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of Dr. Sam Ingram, Motlow’s 1st President.  We sang Dr. Ingram “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed birthday cake and then made our way into Powers Auditorium to watch an video of Brenda Cannon interviewing Dr. Sam Ingram on what the early days of starting Motlow State were like.  Dr. Ingram was most gracious to allow the Motlow College Foundation to use his 90th birthday as an opportunity to raise money for our students through the “Give $90 for Sam’s 90th” campaign.  Thanks to the generosity of many, the Foundation raised $6,700 to go towards the Emergency Funds Scholarship, the new Textbook Scholarship for Adult Learners and the Smyrna Building Fund.

Many, many thanks to those of you who gave to the campaign, who came to the birthday celebration and who helped make the event a success with a special thanks to Lisa Lee for the beautiful flower arrangements and delicious mints, to Kurt Krause for the fabulous birthday banner and to Davis Seal and Brenda Cannon for the wonderful video.
